Some Experiences of the Art of Using Artillery in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign

Abstract

During the anti French colonialist resistance war, the art of using artillery was formed and developed from low to high level. From mainly using batteries, artillery platoons to fight independently, to cooperate in small-scale campaigns, to the Dien Bien Phu campaign in 1954, the art of using artillery developed to its peak with the concentration of many artillery regiments (with trailer artillery regiments), participating in large-scale synergistic operations to destroy the enemy’s most solid and solid fortress group in the Indochina battlefield. The art of using artillery in the Dien Bien Phu campaign left valuable experience in force building, keeping secrets, creating surprises; building a continuous, dangerous battlefield, promoting high firepower; maneuver and concentrate artillery fire; synergies, supporting infantry struggle.
