A Study on the Policy of Selecting and Appointing Martial Mandarins under the rule of the Tay Son government (1771 - 1802)

Abstract

The history of the Tay Son movement associated with the Tay Son authority from Tan Mao (1771) to Nham Tuat (1802) is divided into two periods. Between Tan Mao (1771) and Mau Than (1788) was the period of the development and the victory of the Tay Son movement as a class struggle and national struggle nationwide. Between Mau Than (1788) and Nham Tuat (1802) was the period of existence of the Tay Son dynasty as a monarchy. The Tay Son dynasty included the government of Central Emperor Nguyen Nhac (1786 - 1793), the government of King Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue (1788 - 1792), the government of Dong Dinh King Nguyen Lu (1786 - 1787) and government of King Canh Thinh - Nguyen Quang Toan (1792 - 1802). The leaders of the Tay Son dynasty, especially Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue, actively implemented many policies to reform and build the country with many progressive significances, including the policies of selecting and appointing martial mandarins.
