Vinh Linh rear base in the resistance war anti American imperialism for national salvation (1954 - 1975)

Abstract

During the resistance war against United States for national salvation, Vinh Linh (Quang Tri) occupied a position of exceptional strategic significance. As the frontline of the socialist North Vietnam, it became the focal point of the United States’ all-out destructive warfare, aimed at erasing this vital stronghold. Facing relentless bombardments and immense hardship, under the direct leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and the Government, the armed forces and people of Vinh Linh not only steadfastly defended their territory and achieved resounding victories, but also played an active role in supporting and coordinating with the Southern front. In doing so, they successfully fulfilled their pioneering role as the forward outpost of the socialist North’s rear base, making a profound contribution to the ultimate triumph in the liberation of South Vietnam and national reunification
