The August 1945 General Uprising: A statistical analysis

Abstract

Following a prolonged and deliberate period of preparation, under the leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party headed by Leader Nguyen Ai Quoc - Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnamese people launched the nationwide General Uprising. Within a remarkably short span of time, the uprising unfolded in rapid succession from North to South. While the movement bore strong common features across the country, uprisings in certain localities also displayed distinctive characteristics. This article employs the methodology of sociological statistics to analyze the temporal sequence and outcomes of the uprisings in different regions. Through this approach, it seeks to reconstruct the course of the August 1945 General Uprising both at the local level and in its nationwide dimensions.
