Abstract

Comrade Nguyen Binh (1908 - 1951)’s real name is Nguyen Phuong Thao, native of Yen Phuc village, Tinh Tien commune (Giai Pham commune), Yen My district, Hung Yen province. He used to hold the positions of Commander of the Liberation Army of the South, Chief of War Zone of Zone War 7, Commander of the South Vietnam and was conferred the rank of Lieutenant General in 1948. On October 20, 1945, while the resistance war against French colonialism took place less than a month, He entered the South. As an “envoy of the Central Committee and President Ho”, along with the demeanor of a leader, Nguyen Binh quickly submitted to most of the armed units, especially those outside the leadership of the Communist Party.
