General Doan Khue - Excellent advisor and director of reality

Abstract

Sixty years of revolutionary activities (1939 - 1999), including more than 50 years in the army, experiencing many positions, operating in a number of localities and battlefields, General Doan Khue always overcame all difficulties and challenges and successfully completed all tasks assigned by the Party, the Army and the people. In the early years of the country’s reform, thanks to a strategic vision, sharp political and military thinking, General Doan Khue together with the Central Military Party Committee (now the Military Commission of the 
Party Central Committee) and the Ministry of National Defence contributed to planning the strategic guidelines and to protecting the Fatherland in the new period. At the same time, it directly directed and realized those plans into practice. The purpose of the article is to clarify the outstanding contributions of General Doan Khue on the following aspects: Advising and directing the development and implementation of the strategic adjustment plans in the first years of comprehensive reform of the country; solutions to strengthen and consolidate national defense; building a revolutionary, regular, elite, and gradually modernized People’s Army.
